Color Match is built around the classic Stroop effect, a well-known psychological phenomenon where the brain has to fight against its own instinct to simply read a word rather than notice its actual printed color, and turning that friction into a genuinely fun reflex game. Each round shows you a color word rendered in an ink color that frequently does not match its own meaning, such as the word red displayed in blue letters, and four buttons appear below labeled with different color names in their own mismatched inks. Your task is not to click the button whose label matches the meaning of the word on screen, but the one whose displayed color matches it, forcing your brain to override its default instinct to read and instead focus purely on visual color recognition. Every correct match earns a point before a fresh word and a freshly shuffled set of buttons appear immediately, and the twenty-second timer keeps the pressure constant throughout the round. It is a surprisingly tricky little game that gets harder the faster you try to go, since speed and instinct constantly pull your brain in the wrong direction.
